Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in our body, especially in our skin, and is responsible for maintaining elasticity and hydration.
As we age, our own hyaluronic acid begins to be used up, and we also lose collagen and elastin. This leads to the appearance of the first expression wrinkles, the formation of furrows and the first signs of flaccidity.

It is the anti-ageing cosmetic ingredient par excellence.
Hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate produced by our body naturally.
Its main characteristic is its ability to attract and retain water, it is a skin moisturiser and lubricant,
As we get older, this production decreases and we lose firmness, luminosity and unsightly wrinkles that nobody wants. If we infiltrate hyaluronic acid to make up for this deficiency, we can greatly slow down the inevitable deterioration of the passage of time.
The hyaluronic acid molecule is capable of attracting and retaining hundreds of other water molecules.
This is why I use it in aesthetic treatments to provide a smoother and more youthful appearance, increase thickness and volume, reduce wrinkles and blur expression lines with incredible results.
What can we treat with hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a multi-purpose substance, which means that it is useful for multiple treatments.
It can be used to moisturise, nourish the skin, fill wrinkles, reshape the nose, treat dark circles under the eyes, treat flaccidity, increase lost volume in cheekbones, lips, etc.
How is the treatment performed?
By means of infiltrations with a fine needle and/or cannulas.
Does it hurt? Hyaluronic acid contains lidocaine, which means that soon after the session has begun, the patient will no longer feel any discomfort. Before the session, anaesthetic cream or local cold can be applied to reduce discomfort. In general, all areas are well tolerated. The most sensitive areas are the lips and nose.
How long does the effect last?
Depending on the area of application it can last between 6 months and 1 year approximately.
The best ally for remodelling and firming.
Summary
- Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in our skin. It has the ability to absorb water like a sponge and is responsible for keeping our skin firm and smooth. In addition to the skin, it is also found in the eyes, joints, tendons, ligaments, etc. That is why we produce more of it at an early age to promote development.
At around 26 years of age
of age, the production of hyaluronic acid begins to diminish, giving rise to the first expression lines, especially in the upper third of the face.
Around the age of 30
some of these expression lines start to deepen and become more pronounced and we may notice that the turgor of our skin has changed.
Around the age of 40
the loss of volume and support of the middle third begins and we notice very marked nasolabial folds and the sensation that our skin is "sagging". We also notice a loss of definition of the lips and in some cases the appearance of perioral wrinkles.
Around 50 years of age
skin loses moisture and elasticity and ageing is accelerated due to the loss of fat compartments and bone resorption. It is especially accelerated in women with menopause, as hormonal changes directly influence the skin and bone tissue. This is when the lower third of the face is most affected, with perioral wrinkles, marionette wrinkles and the sagging of the skin that most people denote as drooping.
- All these changes in our skin are variable, as we have genetic components that have an influence, as well as extrinsic components that can accelerate ageing such as: a poor diet, sun exposure, smoking, constantly gaining and losing weight, etc.
- Knowing how we age, we understand the importance of hyaluronic acid in aesthetic treatments, as this is an injectable filler that allows us to replace the volumes lost over the years, as well as smoothing wrinkles and restoring skin smoothness.
- As well as being a very important tool for facial rejuvenation, it allows us to enhance the beauty and harmony of our face with treatments such as lip augmentation, rhinomodelling, marking the mandibular arch, smoothing dark circles, etc.
It is applied in the practice quickly and lasts for a long period of time.
By needle or cannula infiltrations.
30-45 minutos.
We would be in the mild pain range.
Maintenance
- One after 6 months.
- Then one per year.
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
- Cross-linked and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
- In the consultation I will advise you according to the condition of your skin and your age.
Basically, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid will be used to hydrate the skin superficially and cross-linked hyaluronic acid for everything else.
- On lips, dark circles under the eyes, nose, nasolabial folds, jaw arch, chin, marionette wrinkles, cheekbones, fine and deep wrinkles.
Yes:
Pregnancy and lactation
Autoimmune diseases
Infectious and / or inflammatory processes in the areas of application
Permanent fillers in the area to be treated
Allergy to lidocaine.
Some contraindications are relative, for example if you have a cold sore, you can have a treatment on the lips but only after the infectious process has passed and after a prophylactic treatment prescribed in the clinic.
- There is mainly local swelling which varies depending on the area treated. The swelling may be mild and last a few days without affecting daily routine.
Another side effect is the appearance of a small haematoma at some point of the infiltrations.
- Each person has an individual skin diagnosis, which is why the quantity and number of sessions to be carried out will be advised in each case.
- There is a protocol for hydration which consists of three sessions (1 per month) and a maintenance session once or twice a year depending on the case.
- The effect is immediate, the change is noticeable at the end of the session and improves a little more as the days go by.
- Depending on age, skin type and lifestyle, hyaluronic acid may last longer or shorter.
Cross-linked hyaluronic acid will last about a year or so, except on the lip, where it is likely to last 6 months. Non-cross-linked moisturising hyaluronic acid will last less time as it is less dense than non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid.
- Yes, unlike other facial treatments, hyaluronic acid can be infiltrated at any time of the year.
· No debes tomar aspirina ni ibuprofeno desde el día anterior a la sesión, ya que estos medicamentos harían que aparezcan hematomas con mayor facilidad
- No, in the event that you cannot have the next session within the recommended period, your appearance will always be better or the same as before starting the treatment, as during the months that the treatment lasts, it smoothes wrinkles, improves the appearance of the skin and these are months in which your skin has been kept nourished and hydrated and therefore has delayed the ageing of the skin.
I had always wanted to have a lip augmentation but I was afraid of the pain as it is a very sensitive area. I spoke to Dr. Giovana Rojas and she reassured me. With her patience, affection and good work I have to say that I hardly felt anything. Soon I will have another infiltration and I am looking forward to it, because the result is perfect. Thanks to that I look better. With her and her good advice I love to try things out. Lips, rosacea treatment, hyaluronic in small wrinkles, etc... Noelia Cebrián, 41 years old.
For years I had had a big complex about the shape of my nose. I didn't want to undergo surgery because I had been told that the postoperative period was quite hard and I was also afraid that the result would not be what I expected. Dr. Giovana advised me about rhinoplasty and I decided to have it done. I am very happy because my nose has turned out perfect, it looks great. I think I have to go in a year for a little touch up, so I'll be delighted. Carlos H.
